One Year Back – Thank You, I’m Just Getting Started!

What a year! I would have never imagined that I’d come out of retirement to such a whirlwind of drag. First off…I’d like to thank a few people that made it happen… Jeff Gale, your generosity and constant nagging for Anita’s return are overwhelmingly appreciated! Ashlei Iman, the HAIRS!!! What can I say?! Drag would not be drag without DIVAS like you slaying wigs! THANK YOU! Justice Taylor – SAME. So happy Joe introduced us. You are a gifted person and I’m fortunate to have you in my arsenal. Jimbo- thanks for the inspiration! Sapphira – thanks for teaching me that talking about yourself too much is nauseating and that being Miss Congeniality means you’ll never win the actual CROWN! Roy, I couldn’t do ANY of this without your support, feedback, ideas and harsh criticism . The fans- believe it or not, there are countless numbers of you that STILL flock to my “shows” after all these years. It’s why I do it. I love all of you! I’m full of gratitude!

There were some firsts for me in the last year…

I had to start wearing a primer.

I did more private bookings than ever before.

I officiated a wedding for THE CUTEST couple on 4/20.

I had a show canceled by a hurricane.

It’s been an awfully busy year and I’m enjoying every moment of it. My August show (8/24 6:30pm) at Artwalk will feature the new “Wheel of Drag”! You’ll just have to show up to see what that’s all about! I’m also producing my old sketch/comedy bits with the use of a tv monitor like I used to. Very Weekend Update meets Talk Soup. I should have that ready by October!!!! Overall, I’m very excited to be back and entertaining again. It’s fun and I look forward to seeing all my local Galveston/Houston friends every 6 weeks, so I’m going to promise it will never be stale and repeated! I’ve seen so much terrible drag over the last year. It’s painful. Someone told everybody they could be whatever they wanted to be, which isn’t true. Not everybody can be a drag queen…and quite frankly, not everyone should! I said what I said.

It’d be a lie if I didn’t mention I was a little disappointed Joey Guerra missed a mention to me in his Top 32 Queens to check out in the June Chronicle. I cried a couple of tears as I wiped the dust from my 2007 Houston’s Best Drag Queen Award. I’ll just have to have a stronger presence this year and get my ass into (Houston) BarCode for some shows.

This old bitch’s still got it! Keep your seat belts fastened, the ride ain’t over yet!

See you at Artwalk!

xoxo, AB
